Geographical Location
Located in the east of Shandong Peninsula, the Weihai city (36°41’N-37°35’N, 121°11'E-122°42'E) covers an area of 5,436km2 with an urban area of 731km2. Around by Huanghai Sea, the city lies to the south of Liaoning Peninsula, to the west of Korean Peninsula and Japan and on the east of Yantai city. It is 135km from east to west and 81km from north to south.
Shandong Province Weihai Shipyard (the old yard) lies in the south part of Weihai Bay and is separated from Liugong Island by the sea. The Haibin Road, one of the main roads of Weihai City, traverses in front of the Shipyard. With an ascendant geographical location and convenient transportation, the shipyard is only 1.5km away from the Weihai Harbor.
Shandong New Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co. Ltd (the new yard) is located in Zaobei Bay Gushan Town, Economic & Technology District, Weihai City. It is 3km away from Huaneng Power International, INC Weihai Power Plant and 18km away from the old yard on the land and only 1km away from the main sea-route of Weihai Harbor and Weihai Power Plant on the sea.
Located in the industrial zone of Economic & Technology District Weihai city, the new yard has an ascendant geographical location and convenient transportation. There are ready-made open water area and sea-route which can bring a lot of advantages when repairing foreign vessels. |
